Hello hostiles! It's been a few weeks since our last Reflex Roundup, but we're back with the most current news in the community, getting those who may have fallen behind back up to speed. As is our standard fare in these write-ups, we'll firstly cover news related to to the competitive scene, then move on to latest developer news from Turbo Pixel Studios, and finally wrap things up with some great community content.

I was able to catch a few games from both tournaments, and from the small sample size they looked like a lot of fun. Throughout the DP8 "Unforgiving" Minicup tournament it is was very clear that memphis was just a cut above the rest, and even though he was challenged a few times during the games, I never felt scared that he would lose any particular match. The combination of his movement, and aim were far above those of the other competitors, who in their defense, made best attempts to overcome him. Personally ILIHIO was the surprise of the tournament, managing to steal a map from DraQu, whilst showing good competitive form against everyone else. I'm not sure what was going on with fht but his entire game seemed off. It may have just been a lack of time to practice as he was brought in for one of the originally scheduled players who needed a replacement last minute -- from what I've seen from him in CPMa, he is definitely capable of a lot more.

In a similar manner to memphis, dutch legend Vo0 never appeared to be in any real danger through out his run in The eRath Inaugural -- A Tribute to Arena FPS tournament. He made it way through the upper bracket without dropping a single match, whilst often thoroughly humiliating his opponents. With sobering commentary from KovaaK it became clear from an early stage that unless someone like Terifire, or Lunokhod-2, could beat the flying dutch-man, there was just no way he was going be denied the top prize. The brackets were certainly odd, quite frankly the choice to make Thump4 the number one seed was baffling to me considering he was never an elite dueler in any game, but regardless he did have a stand out performance, managing to take second place.

Upcoming Tournaments

EU #2

There is currently a single tournament in the plans but there maybe a second one as well... Community level designer tehace will hosting his "EU #2 Duel Cup" on September 26, 2015, with games commencing at 15:00 UTC. All information is below. THCup 2

Now adding on that, tehace may also be conducting a second tournament, in fact the second installment of his "THCup" series, in the near future. Details are currently scarce but we will update you once more information becomes available. Reflex LAN

The final piece of information in this segment is that LordSoth is hosting a LAN event in Walsall, Birmingham, UK on March 24-28, 2016. In doing so, he's hoping that he can get a Reflex tournament going, and to do so, he'd need players to show up.
Reflex Development Update

Now onto the nitty gritty, and I'll be honest, some of this stuff is a bit too technical for me, but let's give it a go. Recently newborn shared some pictures with community (borrowed from /u/narzdy) showing from very impressive manipulation of brushes. As the development of the game continues the tools level designers will have access to grows more impressive. Check it out below.

Improved brush manipulation.

Adding to that @ReflexDev also recently tweeted an image of their improved lighting system which is being implemented into the latest build.

Finally we have some more exciting news with respect to the upcoming patch as newborn delved into previously unknown details. Even though the 0.36 patch release has been pushed back, there appears to be a some technologies that have been reworked, some which have yet to be shown, a entirely decorated bdm3, as well as further confirmation for CTF in 0.37.

Community Content

In our final segment, I would like to highlight a couple of cool things made by members of the community for one another.

Firstly, please check out pestilence's awesomely useful player outline widget. It's a small tool which conveniently helps you alter a friendly, and enemy player outlines without having to punch in any commands into the console.

The simple PlayerOutline widget.

Next up, KovaaK released his compilation HUD a few weeks ago, taking some of the best widgets available and putting them together in one neat package. If you're lost when it comes to these sorts of things like I am, it's useful utility which will you to easily have the most competitively viable HUD.

Last, but not least, Qualx has made the #DP_TWO HUD publicly available. A clean, and sleek design which won over many fans, check it out.
