Archon Studio has published a PvE playthrough of Quake: The Board Game, offering a closer look at the cooperative mode in the current prototype. In the mission, an unstable Slipgate threatens to implode, and the Rangers must fight through the facility, recover the Runic Keys scattered across the Arena and return them to seal the portal.

Players plan their actions simultaneously at the beginning of each round using Action Cards. When the situation changes, the Slam mechanic allows them to discard cards for additional movement, attacks or healing. The deck also represents ammunition, stamina and the player's connection to the server: spending too many cards without replenishing them can leave a Ranger unable to complete the required actions. Killing monsters, collecting loot and picking up items return cards to the deck and improve the options available in later rounds.

Enemy groups are controlled by a separate Control Card Deck, while High Ground, Low Ground, jumping and classic Jump Pads add vertical movement to the tabletop maps. The cooperative campaign is the focus of the new playthrough, although Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch modes are also planned. More information is available on the Quake: The Board Game project page.
