Archon Studio has revealed six core Strogg enemy types for Quake: The Board Game in its latest Monster Showcase, showing how different enemies will affect positioning, target priority and action management during missions.
The basic Guard pressures players through numbers and close combat, while the ranged Gunner can counterattack after surviving a hit. The faster and tougher Berserker is designed to force an immediate response before it reaches melee range, while the Medic protects nearby Strogg and can turn otherwise manageable groups into high-priority threats.
The heavier enemies introduce more complex battlefield control. Gladiator combines long-range damage with hit-and-run behavior, attacking before attempting to create distance from nearby heroes. Tank acts as an area suppressor with high health, immunity to displacement and attacks that punish players for standing together. It can also retaliate when nearby enemies are killed, forcing the team to think carefully about target order.
According to Archon Studio, the goal is for every new enemy entering the battlefield to make players reconsider their current plan rather than simply add another target to shoot.
