Right after the DreamHack Denver announcement, the official DreamHack Winter site revealed information about their next Quake Champions event. It will include both Duel and Sacrifice tournaments, with the total prize pool of 350,000 USD. Each open qualifier will be broadcast live from the studio in Stokholm, Sweden. The whole event is going to take a place on December 1-3, 2017.

Duel Tournament

The Duel tournament is up for 24 players, eight of which are direct invites, with the 14 of the remaining spots determined via online qualifiers (four European, four North America, two South America, two CIS region, and two from Australia-New Zealand) and the final two spots will be determined by an on-site BYOC event which will take place before the main event. All players are going to be divided into six groups with four players each, with only two of them going through into a single-elimination playoff bracket.

Sacrifice Tournament

The Sacrifice tournament will feature 12 teams with two teams getting direct invites, seven going through online qualifiers (two Europe, two North America, one South America, one CIS region, one Australia-New Zealand) and three teams qualifying through the BYOC. All teams are going to be divided into four groups of three teams each with the top finisher going through into a single-elimination playoff bracket.

Invites are based on Quake World Championships and availability.

Qualifier Dates

Qualifiers are going to be Double Elimination brackets, with those qualifying each earning full travel and accommodation to DreamHack Winter. Europe and CIS have their own independent qualifiers and the final qualifier combines both of these to get the best from both regions in a single bracket.
