St0n3 beats WiseGenie to win Blood Run: Red October

St0n3 won the Blood Run: Red October, defeating WiseGenie 3:2 in the Grand Final. WiseGenie had beaten St0n3 in the Winners Final, but St0n3 returned through the lower bracket, defeating Keltz before taking the rematch for the title. Keltz finished third and PepCo fourth.

The result continues a rivalry that has defined the recent Blood Run tournaments. WiseGenie has reached the Grand Final in each of the last five events, while St0n3 has reached the last four. Those four consecutive finals have all been between the same two players, with two titles each.

Interestingly, Red October followed almost the same late-bracket pattern as No pain, no gain in February: WiseGenie defeated St0n3 in the Winners Final, St0n3 then beat Keltz in the Lower Final and came back to win the Grand Final. In April's Per aspera ad astra, the roles were reversed, with WiseGenie coming through the lower bracket to defeat St0n3 for the title.

Red October was played on the latest Bloodrun version, released earlier the same day. The update included changes to Tech Zone and Acid Base, both of which were part of the tournament map pool.
