The eleventh round of the 250 FPS Quake Live League turned into a marathon match day with a total of 13 series played.

The day started with a shocker: Sib_Vassek defeated top-4 contender dazator in a close 2:0, complicating the dazator’s chances of advancing to the league finals. Later in the day, dazator also dropped matches to both pavel and cYpheR, leaving his playoff hopes hanging by a thread.

In other headline results, k1llsen scored two massive victories over AGENT and cYpheR, pushing himself right into the mix at the top of the standings. Meanwhile, cYpheR, who had been undefeated until today, suffered his first two losses — against AGENT and k1llsen — but still remains in 1st place overall.

With just one matchday remaining on September 28, the final four for the league finals is nearly locked in:
  • cYpheR has two matches left (vs. baksteen and pavel) and can afford to drop one and still qualify.
  • AGENT has completed all of his matches and cannot fall below 4th place.
  • pavel and k1llsen currently sit in the top four but still have work to do in their remaining games (pavel vs. ash and cYpheR; k1llsen vs. h3lldown and fire_bot). Wins in their last matches would guarantee them spots in the finals.

Mathematically, dazator and ash still have a chance to break into the top four, but they’ll need to win out and hope for slip-ups from those above them.

The battle for the top 8 (which grants direct invites to the next season starting in November with a $12,000 prize pool) is also heating up. Along with the leading contenders, Spart1e, RAISY, fire_bot, Nitrino and Fog are all in the running, while the rest of the field can no longer reach the cut.
