The past two weeks in the Quake scene were marked by a mix of official announcements, competitive highlights, and community-driven projects. QuakeCon 2025 came and went with big news for other id Software titles but little for Quake itself, while the competitive calendar remained active with multiple duel tournaments, EGB Cups, and key matches in the 250 FPS Quake Live League. There was also a new speedrun record, fresh video content, updates to long-running Quake mods, and the announcement of a special CPMA 25th Anniversary Event. Here’s a summary of what happened between July 28 and August 10.



  • Quake absent from QuakeCon 2025 spotlight
    QuakeCon 2025 announcements focused on Doom updates and the re-release of Heretic + Hexen, with no major Quake reveals. Fans expecting Quake III Arena or Quake 4 remasters were left disappointed after earlier teases from Nightdive Studios. Even the traditional QuakeCon-themed skin was missing in Quake Champions this year.

  • dramis wins two Quake Champions duel tournaments at QuakeCon 2025

  • 250 FPS Quake Live League Season 3 standings after two weeks
    In the ongoing 250 FPS Quake Live League Season 3, dazator, cYpheR and AGENT remain undefeated. pavel suffered losses to k1llsen and Spart1e, while RAISY put up a strong fight against AGENT and k1llsen but couldn’t secure a win.   • maxter and Keltz share recent Estoty Duel Tournament wins
    On August 1, Keltz defeated baSe in the grand final, avenging an earlier upper-bracket loss by making a strong lower-bracket run. The following Friday, Keltz reached another grand final but fell to maxter, who also came through the lower bracket. This marked Keltz’s 20th win in the Estoty Duel Tournament Series and maxter’s 8th.

  • pavel and cYpheR claim EGB Cup titles
    pavel won EGB Cup #12 and cYpheR took EGB Cup #13. The 12th Cup was notable for its increased prize pool. Thanks to his recent appearances, k1llsen made a sharp climb in the Plus Forward player rankings.

  • CPMA 25th Anniversary Event set for August 31
    The CPMA community will celebrate the mod’s 25th anniversary with a 12+ hour broadcast on August 31, featuring EU and NA duel cups, team-mode showmatches and a special showcase segment with guests including Vo0, apheleon and nineX. A dedicated map pack will be released for the occasion and a community Discord server is available for coordination and updates.

  • fearZZz sets new Quake III Arena speedrun record
    fearZZz broke RAISY’s previous record by less than half a second, completing the run in 29:14.08. The rivalry between the two continues, as highlighted in earlier coverage.

  • Endpoint Quake launches ‘Guess the Player POV’ format
    The Endpoint Quake YouTube channel debuted a new format where Av3k and ins try to guess which player’s POV they are watching from a two-minute random gameplay clip. The footage is stripped of identifying elements such as overlays and frag messages, and viewers are invited to post their own guesses in the comments.

  • Endpoint Quake releases part one of toxjq interview
    The first part of an interview with toxjq covers the origin of his nickname, the unusual keyboard layout he uses, his early LAN experiences, the formation of Ice Climbers and his rivalry with Cooller.

  • Thorin interviews Makaveli
    In a 90-minute conversation, Makaveli reflects on his competitive legacy, his decision to step away from the game. He talks about the early days of esports, the influence of Fatal1ty, memorable tournament moments, unusual in-game feats, and the importance of preserving Quake’s history.

  • New Blood Run build released for Quake III Arena
    The latest Blood Run update brings the Quake III Arena mod closer to Quake Champions, adding skeletons to maps such as Blood Covenant (dm6), The Edge (edge), The Vomitorium (vom2) and the CPMA remake Rostwind. It also fixes player-arching issues on Corruption, adds voice lines for Ranger and Daemia and resolves a pain100 audio glitch for Visor. PTS LENINGRAD and PTS MOSCOW servers have been updated accordingly.
