Quake Champions will be featured on the next two DreamHack Events

Bethesda made an official announcement that the next two DreamHack events will feature Quake Champions tournaments. Both tournaments will include open qualifiers in addition to a select list of top Quake Champions pro players who will receive a tournament invite.

The first invites will be handed out to agent and Cypher as confirmed by John "ZeRo4" Hill on the latest AMA stream. They've merited an invite because visa problems prevented them to participate on this year's QuakeCon event even though they qualified. Competitors interested in the open qualifiers will be able to sign up on the DreamHack website. More details will be released in the near future.

DreamHack Denver Quake Championship (October 20-22)
Bethesda will host a $75,000 championship in Denver with competitors facing off in both the ultimate test of individual skill, Quake Champions’ Duel mode, as well as the intense, 4v4 team-based Sacrifice mode. Qualifiers for the DreamHack Denver Quake Championship will begin in September.

The Quake Champions Invitational at DreamHack Winter (December 1-4)
The best of the best will come together for the first Quake Champions Invitational to be held at DreamHack Winter in Sweden. The most elite professional players from around the world will compete for a prize pool of $350,000 in both Duel and Sacrifice modes.

to be honest sacrifice is the best thing that could have happened to quake. a team mode thar requires team coordination, timing, aiming, communication, basically everything you want for a team mode. sad thing is most people in the quake community dont get how its meant to be played and dont like it that for. basically quake community in a nutshell "qq its not my mode qq no ca qq"

yeah I think its awesome too, its a great mix of CTF and CP and throwing the soul adds a lot of fun as well. Dont know why so many people are whining about it. I have rarely seen such tense and entertaining games as in the sacrifice semis and finals at QC yesterday. They should improve the camerawork in spectator mode and then it'll be a masterpiece

It feels ok to play, but by the end of the day it seems boring on high level, at least that's what I felt during QCon finals. Maps are without symmetry, so there is obvious preference of the obelisk location and usually it's more narrowed down location that being picked, because biggest part of defense is spam fest of nail gun and rockets, ammunition on which you've got plenty. So, in the end - its aim (which is spam + combat) and timing PU with your nyx's ult.

But anyway, if it won't be changed, I predict the same people taking top4 over and over again. Viewership wise i agree tho, it was entertaining to watch, but more from "who's gonna be the winner?" wonder, rather than "wow, that's an awesome display of skill" perspective. Observer has to be improved as well.

Some map symmetry as in ctf would make it more balanced. Some ammo or weapon limit would get rid of spam fest. I heard once of the idea of domination + tdm team mode, where you would control points or even obelisks (for instance 3 points on a map, that in this case doesn't have to be symmetric), which in the end will give bigger multiplication coefficient to the number of frags your team's got. Idea by the sounds of it is more appealing than whatever sacrifice can still produce in the long run for esports / team mode choice of QC

sacrifice is garbage to play and garbage to watch. there are many more vastly superior team based modes which are better.

Sacrifice is fine to play but awful to spectate. IMO just throw all the money at duel, it really is the only hope for longevity in keeping quake in tournaments. Honestly, CTF is the only possible team mode I could see getting decent viewer numbers. Also it is by far the most fun to play and probably the easiest to follow for spectating

2 months between now and next lan. Hope they see that as enough time to start implementing changes to duel, sacrifice and the core gameplay.

Good to see more lans on the way. DH Winter will be QC's next chance for massive exposure and I hope by that point that the gameplay issues are resolved and the bugs/optimisation are all sorted so that the game is in a good position to welcome new audiences
