It's been a while since our last round-up, and I've decided to finally do this with a more regular schedule -- You should expect a new roundup, at the beginning of every month, between the 1st, and 2nd. The format will remain quite similar to what has been provided in a the past few months, an overview of past, and upcoming competitive events, an update on any, and all development news, and finally highlights from some of the awesome community developed content. I am trying to develop a more standardized format, so you don't have to read this re-hashed spiel every time.

Tournament Results

Unfortunately, it does not appear as VODs were saved for this tournament.

This was thrilling tournament actually, and I'm severely disappointed that I could not find the VODs. The final two competitors faced off in a best of three series, with Finnish player Danskq going up against pupz. The series ended up a in a nail biting finish, with the deciding frag occurring on the very last second of the remaining time. In what must have been a gut-wreching loss, pupz would leave the stage in second place, and Danskq would secure the top spot.

FPS Gaming LAN

During last weekend a small LAN was held in the UK, with Quake players gathering to have a good ol' time. In the midst of this GaRpY was able to stream some Reflex, showcasing the game to some 200 twitch viewers. With some fun, and silly moments make sure you check out the VOD.

Upcoming Tournaments

Let's start off with some bad news, as noted in the original post SANETOPIA 3 has been cancelled. The reasons are not very clear as to why this is, but for whatever reason sane has decided to pull the plug on the event, and potentially, the series as a whole.

To add to that tehace has also postponed his EU #2 Duel Cup for the time being. He will provide an update, which will hopefully include a new date, once he returns from real life activities next week.

BOXR Duel Cup

Now that we've covered those somber stories, lets move on to something a bit more exciting. As we reported earlier today, Counter-Strike analyst, and personality Launders has decided to launch his own Reflex tournament. It is currently scheduled for September 26, 2015, with games set to commence at 18:45 UTC. The current prize pool is set at 500 USD, and he is hoping that the community can donate a further 500 USD, for a total prize pool of 1000 USD!

ArenaFPS Duel Cup

After their awesome KoTH tournament, the guys over at ArenaFPS will be hosting their first Reflex Duel Cup. With notable entrants including entik, Vo0, and XatriX, I anticipate on seeing some exciting games as players juke, and jive for the crown. The event is scheduled September 4, 2015, with games starting at 17:00 UTC.

Reflex Development Update

It was being hinted that something big was coming. When it 0.36 finally struck, a few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. This was one of the biggest updates we've seen, arguably the biggest update period. Visually, it took the game to a whole new stratosphere, giving it a distinct, and unique atmosphere. I think with the new art style in place the developers shocked people, myself included, with just how good they could make the game look. With that, this update also included a whole slew of new tech, improvements, and fixes. Head-over to our news post for the full change-log, including the subsequent updates.

bdm3 has never looked this good.

Along with this update, we've already seen some drastic changes to some user made maps -- the most spectacular of which is currently PromEUs' DM-Ashur. This duel map employs an Aztec theme, and the attention to detail is quite refreshing, although I imagine it must have been an arduous endeavour to get this level of detail.

The community's second favourite German mapper def (<3 poub) also gave a face lift to his popular dp4. Check it out.

Finally tehace has also given us a hint of his update to this thct2 that will be released shortly. Even though you cannot download it, you can callvote map thct2style on any of the TurboPixel servers. Be sure to give it a spin.

Community Content

In our final segment, I'd just like to highlight some cool community created content, that does not directly involve pretty maps.
  • Firstly check out KovaaK's Reflex Guides. It's an awesome series that can help players of all skill levels.
  • Tacking on to that, KovaaK has also started a team for new players to learn, and hone their skills in safe environment. If you want to get better, this is where it's at.
  • Our friendly dutchman, Vo0, is also streaming quite regularly these days. Make sure you tune in, and support him.
There were some really cool widget's that I've been enjoy as well, including:
It's nice to see things are starting roundup with Reflex (no pun intended), and watching the game develop its own character. The quality of the game today compared to nine months ago is day, and night.

See you next month.
